Local
Resident Concerned with Town Government
Jeff
Jessemen, a resident of Franconia and a recent candidate
for the office of Franconia Selectman, has created a web
site on Myspace as a forum for concerns that
he has
identified
in Franconia's town governance. The web
site brings to light concerns that Mr. Jessemen has
identified within the operations of Franconia's selectboard.
Many of his blogs include links to actual tape recordings
of the Selectboard's meetings that highlight and showcase
the issues that Jessemen is addressing.
The
allegations of the use of non-public sessions to discuss
issues that should have been discussed publicly, the
failure of the town to disclose information under the state's
Right to Know Law, operational issues relative to the timely
dissemination of information, and the scheduling
of meetings for a time when more citizens could attend
are some of the issues that Jessemen has identified.
However,

Wrist
Band Honors Act of Vigilante Justice Editorial
A manufacturer
of wrist bands designed to commemorate members of the armed
services, fire, and safety personnel, has created and is
displaying on its web site, a band "honoring" the
actions of Greg Floyd in his killing of Liko Kenney in 2007.
The band
incorporates the town of Franconia's Police logo into its
design, something that Mr. Jeff Jessemen has taken issue
with and attempted to address with Franconia's Selectboard
on
several occasions.
The manufacturers
cite this as a "special" band that was created
just for Greg Floyd in honor of his "courageous act
of bravery". wrist bands sell for between $24.95 and
$39.95.
Mr. Jessemen
has repeatedly asked the town to contact the manufacturer
of the wrist band with a request to voluntarily remove the
picture that displays the town's police logo. As of the end
of March,
the Selectboard has refused citing legal issues.
Is creating
a honorary wrist band in honor of an individual that took
someone's life socially acceptable. Does it go beyond...
