Abbie Greenleaf Library
439 Main Street
PO Box 787
Franconia, NH 03580
(603) 823-8424

It is the mission of the Abbie Greenleaf Library to make available materials and services to satisfy the informational, intellectual, and recreational needs of the community of Franconia.

Charles H. Greenleaf presented the library to the town in 1912 and named it in honor of his wife Abbie. Colonel Greenleaf owned the Profile House, a grand hotel in Franconia Notch. The Greenleaf Trail and hut on Mount Lafayette are named after him.

The library is of Jacobethan/Collegiate Gothic design with Richardsonian Romanesque features. Details include an oak door with bulls-eye glass, mosaic floors, mahogany woodwork, and stained glass.

The building was entered on the National Register of Historic Places in July, 2003.

The collection consists of 23,000 titles including books, periodicals, cassettes, videos, puzzles, and CDs. The Franconia and New Hampshire collections contain books on the description, history, and literature of the area.

The magazine collection consists of 46 titles. The following newspapers are also available: 2 daily papers (Caledonian Record, Wall Street Journal), 2 Sunday papers (Boston Globe, New York Times), and the weekly Littleton Courier.
